Stewarton Drama Group is a registered charity and is a member club of the Scottish Community Drama Association.
We have been going strong for 38 years now. Each season our aim is to continue the tradition that our founding members established of bringing quality amateur drama to our loyal local audience.
We have our own premises, affectionately referred to as 'The Premises' where all rehearsals are held and which itself boasts a small stage; ideal for club performances for members and patrons.
Last year was a very busy season, when we performed in our fantastic new theatre in the Stewarton Area Centre, which opened in September 2008.
Throughout 2010/2011, we performed a full length play - Neil Simon's hilarious play 'The Odd Couple - The Female Version', directed by club member Laura McPherson, and our Pantomime 'Jack and the Beanstalk' written and directed by club member Nancy McPherson. February brought two one act plays 'Brenton Versus Brenton' and 'Lone Star' both directed by Nancy McPherson.
Last but by no means least, we ended the season on a high with three performances in May of 'Here Come The Girls' which raised £6,000 for the Ayrshire Hospice!
Now we look forward to another exciting season and building on our success in 2011/2012 |
