STEWARTON WIN AGAIN AT SCDA AYRSHIRE DISTRICT FESTIVAL 2009

The Stewarton Group’s production of the play Epitaph for a Hard Man was placed First in Ayrshire at the conclusion of the week long Ayrshire round of the competition held in Kilmarnock’s Palace Theatre in February 2009, when the team also lifted the trophy for the play with the Highest Marks in Acting.

The award-winning Stewarton team pictured with the Provost of East Ayrshire, Stephanie Young, at the prize-giving ceremony at The Palace Theatre, Kilmarnock last month with the ‘The Alex McGregor Trophy’ for the team with the Highest Marks in Acting and ‘The Joe Corrie Cup’ for First Place.

PHEW - CHRISTMAS 2008 WAS SAVED!

LAUGHTER, LOVE & TEARS”  OCT 2008

The intriguing title for this show in October 2008 reflected the content of the production - three short plays directed by Nancy McPherson, each exploring different aspects and complexities of love.

INTERIOR DESIGNS” – a very well written play by Jimmie Chinn, featuring Jim Goldie, Linda Wilson, Morag Smith & Yvonne Kavanagh. In this play, strong performances left us only too aware of the gender traps we set for each other .....and in spite of lessons ‘learned’ we keep on falling!

“RESTING PLACE”, a short drama by David Campton about two people who have spent  a

life-time together, but we were left wondering - will they ever be able to rest? The play

featured well-drawn and sensitive performances from Mairi-Claire Traynor and David

     Robertson

O

WHAT’S FOR PUDDING ?”, a fast moving, fun-filled, comedy by David Tristram, featured a

cast of Caren McLean, David Robertson, Marion Lamont, Craig McLaughlan and Johnnie

McPherson – with their performances, it was all about comic timing in the marriage

     game!

'ONE GOOD BEATING ' HONOURED AT HOME SEPTEMBER 2008!

Nancy McPherson and her 'One Good Beating' team captivated and delighted once again when they brought their award winning play home from winning the British One-Act Play Festival in 2008.  Councillor Stephanie Young, Provost of East Ayrshire Council joined our loyal local audience in the packed Stewarton Area Centre who were treated to the final performance of our group's award winning play in September 2008. It was a great honour for our group to be the first to take to new stage in our brand new Area Centre in Stewarton and in doing so bring to a fitting close a hugely successful season in 2007/8 for SDG.

British Champions at One Act-Play Festival Swansea 2008
