OH YES IT IS….IT’S PANTO TIME IN STEWARTON!

Award-Winning Ayrshire Drama Group Set to Stage Panto Favourite.......SLEEPING BEAUTY !

Christmas is fast approaching and the award-winning Stewarton Drama Group are delighted to present their 39th annual pantomime – ‘SLEEPING BEAUTY’, written by Dave Buchanan and directed by Group member David Robertson.

The colourful show will be presented in the theatre in the Stewarton Area Centre every night at 7.30pm from Tuesday 4th December until Saturday 8th December 2012. (Please note that the matinee performance at 2.00pm on Saturday 8th December has been ‘SOLD OUT’ since 30th September.)

This year’s show has something for everyone and features a wonderful selection of traditional panto characters guaranteed to keep the audience entertained from start to finish.

Poor Princess Melody (Fiona Gordon) will need to have her wits about her as she endeavours to thwart the plans of wicked witch Grotte the Grim (Caren McLean) and her two gormless side-kicks Mouldy & Skull (Fiona Rowley and Craig McLaughlan) who have concocted a plan to put everyone to sleep for 100 years.

Will Princess Melody’s brothers Prince William & Prince Rupert (Brian Smith and Jim Goldie), and handsome stranger Prince Charlie (Alison Barr) be able to save the day before it’s too late ? Rest assured that good fairy, Fairy Nuff (Ann Burley) with a little help from Meg the Mystic (May Piggott) will be working hard to ensure that good will triumph in the end.

Lots of laughs are guaranteed courtesy of the comedy escapades of the hilarious panto dame, Nurse Merryweather (Johnnie McPherson), while adding to the fun are Princess Melody’s posh parents King Willie & Queen Dilly, (Gavin Boyd & Elaine Cramond), the Royal Chamberlain Lord Basil (Sam Alcroft) and Prince Dougal (David Robertson)

Under the direction of musical director Ewan Mains and his fabulous live band the audience will be treated to a range of specially selected songs, including traditional favourites and one or two surprises!

Tickets for the show, priced at £8 full price, and £5 concession, with a special block booking offer of Buy 10 Tickets, Get One Free, are on sale every day at Stewarton Library. Alternatively, you can reserve your seats by emailing stewartondramagroup@hotmail.co.uk

A selection of juice, crisps, and glo-sticks will be on sale during the interval.

Group President, Nancy McPherson said:

“This is Stewarton Drama Group’s 40th Season of drama. We opened our season this year on 15th August with an Open Night for new members – and we’re delighted that several of our newest recruits will be treading the boards for the first time in our pantomime cast and chorus.

“The Saturday matinee performance of this year’s show was announced as sold out as early as 30th September, and we’re expecting sell-out performances for our 5 evening shows once again this year too. So don’t delay in booking your panto tickets so you can come along and join in the fun in true panto style cheering for the goodies and booing at the baddies!”
